Bella Italia in Legian serves up a Napoli-style Margherita with a crunchy crust, fresh basil and imported mozzarella. A long-time favourite still ranking among Bali’s top pizzas.

Bella Italia in Legian has long been a favourite, so I was looking forward to revisiting. The Margherita arrived looking very pretty, topped with three neatly placed basil leaves and a good coverage of cheese. On first glance, it was everything I wanted it to be.
The crust was crunchy with a bit of chew, though I wish they’d ease up on the coarse polenta dusted underneath. It takes away from the experience for me. The cheese was nicely structured, melted well and balanced the pizza visually, though surprisingly there wasn’t as much of it as I’d expect. The sauce, while tasty, felt a little flat this time round — not as rich or sweet as I remembered, which left me a touch disappointed.
One interesting detail here is that you can choose between Roman or Napoli style. We went with Napoli, of course, but I’ve never tried their Roman offering.
Overall, it’s still a very good pizza and easily in the top five in Bali, though this visit was not quite as special as usual.
