A pub-style Margherita at The Barn — hearty and easy to eat, but missing the spark of a true pizzeria.
The Barn is more of a relaxed pub than a dedicated pizzeria, and the menu reflects that. They’ve got a nice-looking oven and a lively setting, but the pizza itself feels more like a casual pub meal than a crafted creation.
The Margherita arrives looking hearty, with a good amount of cheese and plenty of sauce. But it’s clear the sauce is the same one used on their pasta dishes — a deep, cooked red rather than a bright, fresh tomato base. The crust is flat and a little lifeless, missing that lift and lightness that defines great pizza.
Still, it’s an easy pizza to eat and nothing about it offends. It’s the kind of pizza that fits comfortably on a pub menu — satisfying enough with a glass of wine, even if it doesn’t come from a place of true pizza passion.
