“Crunchier than it looks, but bland, with a sauce that tastes burnt.”
The Forge was slow. We'd ordered the Margherita 15 minutes before a burger at our table, and the burger was nearly finished by the time the pizza arrived.
The toppings look nice. The crust looks less promising: brushed with oil, which I don't usually like, flat rather than puffy, and a bit bready. The bottom is clean, with no semolina, which I really like.
It eats better than it looks. The crust is crunchy, but it has a bready, twice-cooked quality, like a base that's been baked and then topped, even though I saw them making the dough downstairs. The basil is nice, but the cheese doesn't have much flavour, and the sauce tastes burnt, as if it caught on the bottom of the pot while it was cooking.
At around 120k, it's pretty average. Edible, but disappointing.
